January Favorites

I don’t know about you guys but January is my least favorite month. It’s boring. It’s cold. There’s no holidays. School. Work. Nothing fun happens. Well at least not over here. I’m not kidding I was a click away from buying a plane ticket to the Bahamas for a good week there.

That is why I decided to go through and find what I liked about January. My favorite things, reads, makeup, tv show etc. So, here is a lil sneak peak into my favorite things in the month of January.

  1. You Are A Bad*** – How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life by Jen Sincero

I usually don’t read, not going to lie. But, my friends bought me this book for my birthday (because apparently I doubt my greatness?) So far, I’m enjoying it. I’m a slow reader so I’m only about 10 pages in, but those 10 pages pulled me in, so it’s gotta be good! I use it more as a journal instead of a book, because I like to underline things and mark up the pages.

2. Tombow Dual Brush Pens

This kind of stuff makes me so excited. I got these for Christmas and if you’ve seen my Instagram stories and what not, this is what I use in them. (Also used to create the header for this post.) They create that calligraphy look that I love love love. (BTW – I started this lil thing where you can get a FREE handmade card by me – cute for Valentines Day and stuff. So check it out!)

3. One Line A Day Journal

I always liked the idea of journaling, seems fun right? But, I did not like the idea of writing a ton. (Seems weird to say since I own a blog? Sometimes I don’t even understand my logic.) This lil journal is my new favorite thing. Instead of writing a full page about your day, it only allows you to write 1-3 lines per day. Basically just to state what you did, where you went etc. It is also really cool because each page has a different day, but for 5 years! So, once you get past your first year, you go back to January 1st and can see what you were doing last year on that day. I think it will be really cool to see how much will change in the next 5 years.

4. Neutrogena – Hydro Boost – Water Gel

I’m also not really into trying new makeup, which is also weird because I have 2 makeup/skincare items in this blog. Once I find something I like, I usually stick with it. Which is why I am talking about this miracle worker. My skin gets super dry in the winter, as does anyone’s. And I struggle to find a good moisturizer that doesn’t leave my skin shinny. But, this does the trick. I put it on my beauty blender when I’m apply foundation and concealer, so that it doesn’t go on cakey and at the same time is getting rid of the dry skin. (Also, do you see a color theme going on here?)

5. I Love Nude Eyeshadow Collection – Color Story by SE

AGAIN, not super into makeup, but sometimes I have to look like I am not 12 years old at work, sooo. (I also couldn’t find anywhere you could purchase this.) I believe I got it at TJMAXX, so I am assuming it was super cheap, but the colors are perfect. I use it everyday which is why it belongs in my January favorites.

6. Ellia by Homedics Rise Ultrasonic Aroma Diffuser

(Again with the color theme, I did not plan this.) I got this for Christmas as well. My mom is really into the essential oils, so she bought me one. This diffuser that I have has a color changing light on it and it also plays really soft music, which I love. I usually use it when I go to bed, I put 3 drops of Lavender and 2 drops of cedar wood in it and I swear to God I am knocked out 5 minutes after I hit the pillow. I am really good at overthinking things, which usually happens at night, and it just eliminated those midnights when I am starring at the ceiling contemplating my life. (Thank God.)

greys-main

7. Grey’s Anatomy

You know I couldn’t go without sharing my favorite Thursday night plans. Greys Anatomy came back 2 weeks ago and this season is just. Ugh. I love this show. Thursdays just aren’t Thursdays without Greys Anatomy. AND. Last episode they announced the firefighter spin-off with one of the Greys characters. It’s called Station 19, and you can bet I’ll be watching that as well.

So, there ya have it, my favorite things throughout the month of January. If you liked this post, and want me to do them every month comment or like! And, if you have any questions about anything let me know.

BTW – yes there is a SONG OF THE WEEK coming tonight, so stay tuned.

SONG OF THE WEEK

Happy happy Monday.

I can’t believe January is almost over? I’m not really sure where it went.

There has been a lot of new music releases and tour announcements lately. I’m kinda freakin out. The Faster Horses Festival lineup gets announced tomorrow and I already have a hotel booked. (CAN’T WAIT.) Rascal Flatts are going on tour with Dan+Shay. Zac Brown Band is touring with OneRepublic. Keith Urban is going on tour with Kelsea Ballerini. I can’t keep up. (And neither can my bank account.)

Speaking of Keith Urban. This weeks SONG OF THE WEEK.

Parallel Line – Keith Urban

If you like Ed Sheeran, you will like this song. (By the way did you see he got engaged??) It has a slow, soulful, heartfelt vibe with a mix of both slow guitar strumming and electric guitar riffs. His voice almost reminds me of Ed Sheeran’s in it as well.

Keith announced his future album, Graffiti U. And will hit the road on the Graffiti U Tour alongside Kelsea Ballerini.

I saw Keith last year and he puts on such a good show. I have been wanting to see Kelsea Ballerini for a while too, so I’m pretty excited that this tour is coming near me.

Let me know what you think about the song.

You can also leave song recommendations in the comments! I love new music!

Have a happy week.

Room Update!

Most people dread redoing a room because it costs a lot of money. I feel ya. I was excited to redecorate and make my room all cute but realized how much money I was about to spend. It doesn’t have to break your bank account though. You can find a lot of cute things for really cheap! Trust me, I look for them.

A couple weeks ago I went to Menards, which is a giant store that literally has anything you can think of. I mean they sell everything from kitchen cabinets to a gallon of milk. They have a lot of home decorating stuff and for CHEAP.

So, here is a little update on the room situation. What I bought, how much I bought it for and how it’s lookin.

Below is what I have sitting next to my bed. It’s a cute lil square table, which I bought in white. You can view my inspiration for it here. (Don’t mind the bunch of chords hangin out on the side there.) On the website it says it is $39.99 but, I think I bought it on sale for $37.99. I also bought the basket in the lower left cubby, which I think adds a cute lil natural accent. (Which I’m bringing in throughout my room.) The basket was only $14.99. You can find the table here and the basket (I don’t think it’s the same one but close.) here. IMG_9003

I also really, really needed somewhere to hang my stuff because it had been laying on the floor for about 3 weeks, oops. So, I bought this lil set of hooks that hangs right when you enter my room. I couldn’t find the same one on their website but here is a white version of it, which is the same price, $19.99. I also bought a couple small hooks for above to hang my hats.

IMG_9005

I am pretty happy about this next one because I so desperately needed a new fan. My old one hung so low on my ceiling, you could almost hit your head on it before. The one I bought is a low-profile one, which means it is way closer to the ceiling. My old one also had only two speeds, really, really, really high or really, really, really low. The reason I’m excited is because I got it for $24.99. (Heck ya!) It is exactly what I wanted too. You can change the blades to be white or wood. On the website it is now $29.99, but you can check it out here.

IMG_9004

So, now that I got the ball rollin a lil bit, I’m excited to keep adding to the decorations. That was probably the most amount of money I will have to spend. (Which wasn’t even a lot!) The rest will just be little purchases. (Besides pillows….I’m really confused as to why pillows are so expensive??)

Thanks for keeping up with my room process and I hope I helped with any hints as to where you can buy cute things to update a room for cheap. Stay tuned for more soon. And if you didn’t get a chance to peek at the before pictures (yikes.) you can click here.

TGIF Y’all.

SONG OF THE WEEK

Happy snowy Monday from Michigan.

I have been super busy with the start of my winter semester and work, but I promise that there will be some different blog posts coming up very soon!

Meanwhile, one of my absolute favorite duos came out with a song last week and holy cow. I have had it on repeat.

Tequila – Dan + Shay

These guys work so so hard writing music and touring the world for their fans. They do NOT get enough credit. I met them a few years ago and they are the sweetest and most humble people on this earth. They are always replying to fans on social media and chatting with them. They treat you like they’ve known you for years.

I have seen them 4 times? (I think) And their live shows are unbelievable. They have this way of getting the crowd SO pumped up and whenever I go to their shows I never want them to end.

This song is a part of their new chapter and it somehow makes you miss someone you didn’t even know you missed. (If that’s even possible.)

My favorite part is when their vocals shoot up to sing “SKY HIGH IN COLORADO.” That entire verse is so good. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, GO LISTEN!

They are currently stuck at #7 on All Genres on ITunes and have kept their spot at #1 on the Country charts for the past couple of days. So, I encourage you to go listen and if you like the sound of it, download their song on ITunes so they can keep crawling up that All Genre chart. They deserve it.

Stay tuned this week for a couple new posts. (Room update and how shooting my first show went.) If you missed my first room post you can click here.

Until then I will be hibernating in my house until the sun and warm weather come back. If you live somewhere warm please send some my way.

Thanks for reading friend.

SONG OF THE WEEK

Happy Monday.

Today is back to work, back to school, and back to reality for a lot of y’all. It’s rough I know. But, it’s a new year and I promise good things are ahead.

I’m excited because this is my last full semester at community college. (Yay!) After this, I have (hopefully) 2 classes to take for spring semester and then I am proudly taking a year off. A lot of people say that taking a year off is a bad idea because you lose interest and it’s hard to get back into the groove of going to school. But, I am not the type of person to quit things and I am excited to continue my education. I just thought this would be a good time to learn a little bit more about the world. Travel. Save some more money. And ultimately figure out exactly what I want to study at a higher level. Just need time to think.

Enough about my life at the moment.

I chose kind of a chill song for this weeks SONG OF THE WEEK and kind of relates to my life right now.

Broken Halos – Chris Stapleton

There are a couple lines in the song that stand out to me.

“Don’t go looking for the reasons
Don’t go asking Jesus why
We’re not meant to know the answers
They belong to the by and by”

Basically, just leave it to Jesus. He has things planned for you and you have to trust him in the future he has for you.

I have been learning to leave my trust in Jesus a lot more lately because I know I can’t control what the future holds. I constantly worry about the future and I get scared when I don’t have a plan. But, I have learned that you just have to trust God’s path and where He is guiding you. So, don’t question His ways!

There is my little preach for the morning. Not to mention, Chris Stapleton’s voice. Oh man.

Have a great week y’all.

Redoing My Room!

Happy weekend y’all.

I decided a while ago that I wanted to redo my room to make it less “bright colors” and “crap I don’t need everywhere”, to “simple” and “clean” and “cute.” I pinned a lot of pictures on Pinterest as my inspiration and decide I was going to start the new year with a new room. My inspo board here!

So, do you kind of get the vibe I’m going for? Simple but with hints of a lil boho style?

Here is what my room looked like before. You might want to close one eye…

Peep my cat.

Yikes right.

Well, I went to the home store and chose the first paint color that caught my eye. It’s a creamy white color. If you would like the exact color, click here!

(Not to mention I threw away so much stuff I didn’t need.)

Here is what my room looks like now.image1 (3)image2 (1)

Crazy what a lil paint and cleaning can do. Oops. I still need to go shopping for decorations and storage stuff. (As you can see the walls are pretty bare.)

I’m also trying not to pay a fortune so I will keep updating on cute stuff I find for not a lot of money.

THAT REMINDS ME! The chair below I purchased from Target. It was originally $100 but I bought it on clearance for $29.99! I couldn’t find the chair on Target.com but I did find it here for $169. I think I got a steal.

Stay tuned for updates on the progress of my room!

See you on Monday (aka the start of my winter semester, sadly.) for a new SONG OF THE WEEK.

SONG OF THE WEEK

Hello 2018.

This is the first SONG OF THE WEEK of 2018 and it’s a lil different from the others. New year, new music? I made it a goal for this year to discover new artists and branch out a lil more. (We’ll see how that rolls.)

Anyway! Last week my family and I went and saw the movie, The Greatest Showman. So. Good. A lil summary, this guy who creates a show/circus out of basically nothing. He finds all these interesting, different people to take part in the show and it grows to be a this huge, spectacular performance. (Obviously with bumps along the way.) Zac Efron and Zendaya play great roles in it. But, the soundtrack is so, so, so good. Every song throughout the movie made you want to sing along.

So, this weeks SONG OF THE WEEK is my favorite from the soundtrack…

Come Alive – Hugh Jackman (The Greatest Showman Soundtrack)

You can also watch the live commercial they did for the song. (The reason I discovered the jam.)

My favorite part is when EVERYONE starts singing and clapping. Love it.

The entire soundtrack for the movie is really good and I totally recommend that you listen to it. (Even if you’re not into the musical scene.)

Well. Here is to 2018.

I can’t wait to keep building my lil blog and sharing lots and lots with y’all.

Happy first Monday of 2018.
